FAMILY FARM TO LAVENDER FIELDS

Our family has called Cortland, IN home since 1847. For generations, we have lived on and cared for the land in this area. What has been a hidden agricultural gemstone in the hills of Jackson County has been transformed into a blissful and fragrant scene of lavender.

Julie Rieker, Steven's mother, grew up on the family farm, now called Red Barn Angus Farm, in Cortland. They raised a variety of livestock and farmed the land. When she married and had children, the farm became a second home to Steven and his siblings. From a young age, Steven dreamed of someday calling the family land "home." This land is what has become Rolling Hills Lavender Farm and is soon to become the Rieker homestead. Steven and Kelsie, along with Steven's parents, Greg and Julie, are excited to begin making the dreams of Rolling Hills Lavender Farm become a reality!

In 2017, Steven Rieker attended an Agribility conference in Maine, where he discovered the value of lavender farming and the hidden potential within lavender agritourism. Immediately, the family began researching ways to dive into the business and purchased their first 33 plugs. Now, three years later, these herbs are accompanied by nearly 2,000 Phenominal and Munstead plants which bloom each year in early summer months and fill the hills will wild and soothing frangrance and color!
